Funeral services for Mr. DaMarcus Deon Delaney, age 26, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at Central Baptist Church in Carthage with Elder Jerry Granbury officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Tenaha. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. DaMarcus passed away on Saturday morning, Sept. 25, 2010, near Carthage.

DaMarcus Deon Delaney was born on Aug. 26, 1984, in Carthage to Alton Earl Delaney and Vonda Sue Smith. He graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 2003. DaMarcus lived his lifetime in Carthage and was a member of St. Rest Baptist Church in DeBerry. He was preceded in death by one sister, Shasmin Sade "Punkin" Delaney; great-grandparents, M.C. and Mary Lou Calloway and Alex Walton, Sr.; grandparents, Alja Delaney, Sr. and Darcie Walton McCann; uncle, Charles Ray Smith; aunts, Doris Ann Delaney Holland, Alma Joyce and Vanessa Kay Delaney.

DaMarcus is survived by his mother, Vonda Smith (Michael) of Carthage; his father, Alton Delaney (Verlene) of DeBerry; two sons, Demarian Anthony Delaney and his mother Toni and DaMarcus Delaney, Jr. and his mother Denecia all of Carthage; one daughter, Shasmin Delaney and her mother Tina of Mansfield; special friend, Maygan; best friend, JaHavian; two brothers, Alan Brown of DeBerry and Clifford Bowman of Carthage; one sister, LaTonya Brown of Carthage; great-grandmother, Iree Smith Walton; grandparents, Charlie Calloway (Joshua), Charles Smith, Jr. (Ugala), Curtis McCann, and Carolyn Delaney Joyner (Clearance); aunts, Stella Smith (Sammy), Stephanie Smith (Oshay), Mary Moore, Amy Smith (Carlton), Rosie Taylor (Michael), Mary Granberry (Jerry), Mary Hayes, Sharon Delaney (Robert), Sandra D. Marshall (Jim), Shenia Hill (Rodney), and June Jones (Cedric); and uncles, Don Smith (B.J.), Howard Smith (Gloria), Gene Smith (Sharonda), Danny Smith (Artie), Alja Delaney, Jr. (Collette), Bruce Davis (Veronica), and Ozell Holland, Jr. DaMarcus is also survived by his church family and a host of cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
