Connie Fay Evans Shivers, 94, of Beckville, Texas passed away July 24, 2021 in Carthage. Mrs. Shivers was born November 12, 1926 in the Old Salem Community of Rusk County, Texas to the late Elmer L. Evans and Delia Lavada Pruitt Evans. She graduated from Alto High School with the class of 1944. Connie married Ottis Edward "Ted" Shivers on June 21, 1945 and together they celebrated 39 years until he preceded her in death on May 19, 1985. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church in Beckville. She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, David Evans Shivers; brothers, Dan Evans, Henry Elmer Evans, Maurice Sexton; sisters, Elizabeth Thomas, Margaret Briggs, Madeline Day and Katherine Sue Herrington; son-in-law, Jerry Peterson; and great-granddaughter, Brooke Ivey.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Luther Edward "Eddie" Shivers and wife Geneva of Gilmer, James Paul Shivers and wife Kathy of Mesquite; daughter, Judy Faye Peterson of Beckville; daughter-in-law, Debbie Shivers of Tatum; sister, Alicia Gay Evans of Longview; brother-in-law, John Herrington of Henderson; grandchildren, James Shivers, Caroline Ivey, Jenifer Williams, Misti Gregory, Jonathan Shivers, Karin Shivers, Tammy Holder, Kelley Satterwhite; 12 great grandchildren; 4 great, great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 26, 2021 at the New Prospect Cemetery in Panola County with Rev. Steve Jackson officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home.
