A funeral service for Cody Baldree, 41, of DeBerry, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Central Baptist Church in Carthage with Bro. Freddy Mason and Scott Reeves officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Walnut Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Cody passed away on Sunday evening, July 13, 2014, at his home in DeBerry.
Cody Todd Baldree was born on Nov. 12, 1972, in Bossier City to Johnny Ray and Ann Dungan Baldree. He graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1991, where he played football and was a member of the FFA. He married Shannon Michelle Pennington on Nov. 16, 1996, at Central Baptist Church in Carthage. Cody was past president of Carthage Dixie League for many years. He worked as a farmer and rancher and enjoyed hunting and spending time with his children. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Cody was preceded in death by his father, who passed away on Jan. 11, 1992.
Cody is survived by his wife, Shannon Baldree; his mother, Ann Baldree; three children, Cagan, Callahan, and Caroline Baldree all of DeBerry; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mike and Monnie Pennington of Carthage; brother-in-law, Shane Pennington and wife Audra of Mt. Pleasant; niece, Meli Pennington and nephew, Michael Pennington of Mt. Pleasant; uncle, Frank Dungan and wife Judy of Natchez; special aunt, Donna Powell of Carthage; and cousins, Matt and Shea Williams and their children of Indonesia. A host of other family and friends also survive Cody.
Serving as pallbearers are Brad Robinson, Bo Sharpe, Toby Clabaugh, Blanton Rich, Ron Sharp, Brad Cockrell, Eric Pellham, and Nathan Wise.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Todd Griffith, Jim Morris, Bruce Whitaker, and Uncle Tubby Cook.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Heart's Way Hospice for the loving care shown to Cody.
