Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Clifford Rocquemore, age 65 of Carthage, Texas will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at Walnut Grove Baptist Church with Reverend David Gates, Reverend James Brown, and Reverend James Lester officiating. A military graveside service will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. A wake will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Rocquemore passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2006 at his home near Carthage.

Clifford Otis Rocquemore was born on October 18, 1941 in Panola County, Texas to Alfred Herman and Willie B. Wilcot Rocquemore. Mr. Rocquemore graduated from Turner High School in 1962. He married Gladys Greer on June 25, 1964 in Center, Texas. Mr. Rocquemore served his country during Vietnam and retired after 26 years with the United States Army attaining the rank of 1st Sergeant. He earned two bronze stars during his service in the military. After retirement, Mr. Rocquemore worked in the Palm Springs, California School District. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Rocquemore had called Panola County his home most of his life with the exception of his service in the Army. He was a member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Rocquemore is survived by his wife of 42 years, Gladys Greer Rocquemore of Carthage; three sons, Darron Collins and wife Charlene of Denton, Marcus Collins and wife Michele of Denton, and Clifford Rocquemore, Jr. and wife Leah of Palm Spings, CA; three daughters, Cassandra Rocquemore Shirley and husband Paul of Cathedral City, CA, Angie Collins Duncan and husband Steve of Lake Forest, CA, and Celesta Rocquemore Frazer and husband Ryan of Highland, CA; sixteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Willie "Mody" Rocquemore and wife Patsy of Carthage, Raymon Marry and wife Judith of Carthage, Tommy Marry and wife Barbara of Carthage, and Johnny Marry and wife Betty of Dallas; five brothers-in-law, Willie Joe Greer and wife Mary, Connie L. Greer and wife Cassie, Jimmy L. Greer and wife Allie, Cleo Greer and wife Linda, and Calvin Greer; two sisters-in-law, Mary G. Endsley Noiel and husband James and Janet Barkins and husband Henry; and one aunt, Markie Gates of Carthage. Mr. Rocquemore has a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will mourn his passing.

Serving as pallbearers are James Noiel, Raymond King, Henry Barkins, Bill Williams, Pete Rollins, and Ira Jinks. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Willie O. Rocquemore, Tommy L. Marry, Raymon G. Marry, Johnny Marry, Cleophus Greer, Willie J. Greer, Connie L. Greer, Jimmy L. Greer, and Calvin Greer.
