Graveside services for Mrs. Cille Crawford Knox, age 91, of Carthage, Texas, formerly of the Lake Murvaul Community, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at Rusk County Memorial Gardens near Henderson with Rev. Macky Buchanan officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Thursday prior to the service. Mrs. Knox passed away on Monday night, September 14, 2009, in Carthage.

Orracille Crawford Knox was born on November 10, 1917, in Beckville, Texas to Addison Alexander and Bertha Stone Crawford. She graduated from Beckville High School with the class of 1934. Mrs. Knox attended the College of Marshall and North Texas State Teacher's College, where she received her teaching certificate in 1938. She married Meredith Nauman Knox on June 1, 1940, in Henderson and he preceded her in death on December 10, 1986. She was a former member of the Red Bud Garden Club in Henderson. In 1966, she and her husband moved to the Lake Murvaul Community from Henderson. She was a former member of the Carthage Book Club and the Carthage Bridge Club. Mrs. Knox was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carthage where she was also a member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class. She was also preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.

Mrs. Knox is survived by her son, Dr. James Knox and wife Margaret of Austin; lifelong friend, Ann Bradshaw of Henderson; and her loving caregiver, Mary Anderson of Carthage.
