Obituary

Christine Pyland Wimberly was born on September 30, 1917 and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, April 8, 2015. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Wintermute officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. A private interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park.

She is survived by her 3 daughters and their husbands: Eleanor and J. E. Salter of Lake Cherokee, Carol and Carl Barton and Janette and Johnny Mahurin, all of Longview; 6 grandchildren: Richy Wall and wife, Samantha, Stacy Cady and husband Brent, Greg Barton, Carla Hawkins, Brandon Andrus and wife, Kelly, and Brent Andrus and wife, Jodie; her sister-in-law, Joyce Beene and special family friend, Betty Wellman. Additionally, she has 11 great grandchildren.

Christine was born to Reps and Lillie Reeder Pyland in Marion County, Texas. She was the youngest and last survivor of 13 children, having 4 brothers and 8 sisters. She graduated from Lassater High School in 1935 and that year married, I.C. "Boots" Wimberly who predeceased her on April 6, 1987.

Throughout their marriage, she assisted her husband in his lumber business. They moved from the Beaumont area to Carthage, Texas in 1954. After her daughters were grown, she attended nursing school in 1961, receiving her LVN license in 1962. She worked for approximately 25 years in the Carthage area nursing homes, and retired from nursing for health reasons when she was in her early 80's. Many of the patients for which she cared were her age or younger.

Traveling and simply being with her daughters and any and all of her large family gave her the most pleasure. She was an excellent cook and continually supplied meals and sweets for the family. She enjoyed attending church at St. Andrews Methodist Church.

Christine was an exceptionally strong, loving, happy and dependable Matriarch of her family. She spent her entire adult life devoted to her family and for that she is loved and cherished to all who called her Mother, Momma, Me-Mommie, GrandMother and Aunt Tootsie. She will be missed by all.

The family extends special thanks to Pam Ransom, Kim Hennigan and devoted care giver, Crystal Bolden.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable donations be made to the Heart, Cancer, or Autism Foundation.

Pallbearers are Richy Wall, Brent Cady, Brandon Andrus, Brent Andrus, Greg Barton, Dirk Wall, and Hunter Cady.
