Charlie Moreland, 87, of Carthage, Texas passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024, at his home near Carthage. Charlie Richard Moreland was born on November 24, 1936, in Fort Worth, Texas to the late Clyde and Ella Mae Hackney Moreland. He attended Smithfield, Texas schools. Charlie married Barbara Grace Ray on November 29, 1974, in Carthage and she preceded him in death on June 19, 2010. He worked as a glazier at Binswanger Glass Co. in Fort Worth until his retirement. He later worked in brick masonry for many years with his brother. Charlie loved watching his grandchildren's sporting activities and hunting. He was a longtime member and ambassador with the Panola County Chamber of Commerce. He moved to Carthage in 1976, from Fort Worth and he was a member of Northside Christian Center in Carthage. Charlie was also preceded in death by his siblings, Gene, Lester, Roy, Bobby, Betty Sue and Sue.
He is survived by his children, Ricky Moreland and wife Susan, Teresa Ray and husband Terry, and Michael Moreland and wife Cindy; grandchildren, Brittany Cain (Spencer), Jeremy Ray (Brandi), Brannon Moreland, Shelby Carlson (Brandon), and Bradi Ware (Eric); and great-grandchildren, Maddie Grace, Ella Kate, Paislee, Stetson, Brilee, Nick, Brenna, and Carter. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family and friends also survive.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Shady Grove Cemetery with Pastor Brandon Pierce officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will recieve friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
