Charles David Walden, 78, of Beckville, TX, passed away on Friday afternoon, Oct. 18, 2019, in Marshall. He was born on March 31, 1941, in Carthage, TX to the late Edwin Lee and Opal Irene Burgess Walden. Charles graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont with the class of 1959. He married Patricia Gray on July 1, 1961, in Carthage at St. Paul Presbyterian Church. Mr. Walden worked for Ameripol Synpol where he advanced to supervisor over the reactor recover, retiring after 40 years of service. He served as president of OCAW Local for 20 years and later served on the board of directors of the Panola County Farm Bureau for 15 years. Mr. Walden loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed riding cutting horses and steer roping. Mr. Walden was a member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church near Carthage.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Gray Walden of Beckville; daughter, Rose Cossey and husband Jimmy of Fannett, TX; sons, Eddie Walden and wife Lisa of Hemphill, TX and Stevo Walden of Fannett; sister, Melba Richmond of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Caitlin, Elizabeth, and Stephanie Cossey, Kimberly Myers Russell and Chase Myers; three great-grandchildren; one niece; and two nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019, at Rehobeth United Methodist Church with Rev. James Littleton and Rev. David L. Kennedy officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in New Prospect Cemetery near Beckville, TX. The family will receive friend from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Jim Burgess, Neal Burgess, John Burgess, Collin Edens, Preston McBee, and Canaan Schmitz.
