Charles Allan Sullivan, Jr., 81, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Wednesday morning, June 23, 2021, at his home near Carthage. He was born on Dec. 8, 1939, in Wells, Texas, to the late Charles Allan Sullivan, Sr. and Leone Childers Sullivan. He graduated from Nacogdoches High School with the class of 1958. Charles earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music from SFA in 1964 and a Master's Degree in Religious Education from Southwestern Seminary in 1968. He married Joyce Marie Coulter on June 26, 1965, in Nacogdoches. Charles dedicated his life to serving the Lord through his ministry in music. Charles served for his whole life in multiple churches throughout Arkansas and Texas as the Minister of Music including First Baptist Church in Carthage, Texas.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Joyce Sullivan of Carthage, Texas; son, Charles Allan "Chuck" Sullivan and wife Keri of Bryant, Arkansas; daughter Jennifer "Jenny" Stacy and husband Chris of Carthage, Texas; siblings, Rodney Sullivan and wife Mary of Brownsville, Texas, Mary Ann Sullivan of Gilmer, Texas, and Elizabeth Foster of Carthage, Texas; and grandchildren, William Stacy and wife Lauren, Max Sullivan and wife Stephanie, Ahna Chhor and husband Anthony, Mallory Sullivan and fiancé Andrew, Coulter Stacy, Caroline Stacy, and Carter Sullivan; and great-granddaughter, Charlotte Stacy.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home, Carthage, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at First Baptist Church in Carthage, Texas, with Dr. Allen Tilley officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Wells, Texas.
Pallbearers are William Stacy, Max Sullivan, Coulter Stacy, Carter Sullivan, Dan Foster, Andrew Guyton, Brandon Monroe, Ray Taylor and Frank Meyers. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Sullivan and Anthony Chhor.
