Charles Wayne McElroy, 83, of Carthage, TX, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, Oct. 5, 2019, at his home near Carthage. Charles Wayne McElroy was born on June 26, 1936, in Tenaha, TX to the late Sam Coy and Gladys Pauline "Polly" Parker McElroy. Charles began pipelining at the age of 14, where he spent most of his years, traveling the world. He was a Master Mason and was a member of the Carthage Masonic Lodge #521. Charles was a member of Stillwater's Cowboy Church in Carthage. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Adria Lee McElroy and Sammy McElroy.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Trudy McElroy; daughters, Lynn Ezell and husband Thurston of Sealy and Dixie Smith of Michigan; sons, Everett McElroy and wife Missy of Carthage, Chuck Ross and wife Cyndee of Alvin, Mike Ross and wife Teresa of Marshall, Dixie Smith of Michigan, and Daniel Smith of Indiana; grandchildren, T.J. Ezell, Tony McElroy and wife Kelsi, John McElroy and wife Whitney, Gabby Hojnicki and husband Aaron, Jade Ross, Amy Stuckey and husband Ryan, Michael Mancini, Zack Ross, Sandy, Dakota James, and Jess Stanton, and Michael and Samantha Smith; sisters-in-law, Terry McElroy and Bonita McElroy; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Matt Comer officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites will follow at Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers are the members of the Carthage Masonic Lodge #521.
