Charles Richard Holcomb, 68, of Carthage, TX, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, June 7, 2020, at his home in Carthage. He was born on Nov. 26, 1951, in Jacksonville, TX to the late Carroll and Janet Rogers Holcomb. He graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1970. Mr. Holcomb married Debora Kay Woods Sharpe on June 10, 1994, in Carthage. He worked in the oil and gas industry as a roustabout and gas plant operator for United Gas, Champlin, Union Pacific, Duke Energy, and DCP for 38 years. After his retirement he continued his distinguished career as a plant superintendent at Mark West Energy for the last 9 years. Mr. Holcomb was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and baby brother, Roger Holcomb.
Mr. Holcomb is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Holcomb of Carthage; children, Eric Holcomb and wife Niki of Carthage, Kory Sharpe and wife Meredith of Bedford, Lawsen Sharpe of Carthage, and Nicole Stillwell and husband Jake of Old Center; siblings, Jimmy Holcomb and wife Pam of Burnet and Mitch Holcomb and wife Kim of Carthage; and grandchildren, Bre'anna, Kaden, and Lexi Holcomb, Clara, Lilianne, and Brooke Sharpe, and Charlie Stillwell. Numerous nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive.
The family would like to extend special thanks to: daughter-in-law, Niki Holcomb; Alysha Cockerham, Polly Maines, Kim Henigan "Nurse Nan", Heart's Way Hospice, Texas Home Health, his Mark West family, and his extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to one of the following charities: Heart's Way Hospice, Panola County Cancer Coalition, Shriner's Hospital for Children, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
