Obituary

Chuck Sanborn, 75, of the Centennial Community of Panola County, TX, passed away on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 14, 2019, in Shreveport, LA. Charles Dennis "Chuck" Sanborn was born on Sept. 18, 1944, in Philadelphia, PA to the late Charles Franklin and Gladys Perkins Sanborn. He attended Lutheran High School in Houston, TX. Chuck served his country in the U.S. Army 82 nd Airborne Division from 1962-1965, in Ft. Bragg, NC. He worked as a marine electrician for the pipeline division of Brown & Root all over the world for 20 years. Chuck later worked as a construction electrician with I.B.E.W. Local 194, Shreveport, LA, retiring from Camus Electric Co. in 2002. Chuck married the love of his life and best friend, Marcille Mullins, on March 29, 1980, in Gretna, LA.  He moved to Centennial in 1982, from Gretna. He enjoyed shooting at the Panola County Rifle Range in Deadwood, TX. Chuck was a Master Mason, a member of Scottish Rite Bodies, and was a Shriner. Chuck was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Keatchie, LA.

Survivors include his wife, Marcille Sanborn of Centennial; son, Bennie Bates and wife Patrice of Orange; daughter, Genalyn Burris of Carthage; grandchildren, Corey Bragg and wife Sherry of Huxley, Julianne Bates Aras and husband Ryan of Bridge City, Gerrah Bates Brinkerhoff and husband Justin of San Antonio, and Michael Burris of Carthage; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A Masonic graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019, at Centennial Cemetery with Rev. Charles Hall officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
