Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Charlene Keeling, age 90, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church in Carthage with Bro. Freddy Mason and Rev. Keefe Cropper officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Keeling passed away on Saturday morning, Nov. 5, 2011, at her home in Carthage.

Frances Charlene Keeling was born on June 30, 1921, in Nacogdoches, TX to Charlie James and Kiula Amos Wilson. She married Donald Edward Keeling of the Dotson Community and he preceded her in death on July 1, 1971. Mr. and
Mrs. Keeling, along with Leonard and Dorothy Keeling, owned Keeling Foods in Carthage for many years and in 1980, she went to work for Ken Turner Pharmacy until her retirement. Mrs. Keeling moved from Nacogdoches to Dotson after their marriage, then to Carthage in 1947. She worshiped at the First United Methodist Church of Carthage where she was active in the Women's Ministry and Carter Circle. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.

Mrs. Keeling is survived by two sons, Don Keeling and wife Marinan of Pleasanton and Dr. Keith Keeling and wife Lynda of Carthage; one daughter, Dianne Briery and husband Milton of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandchildren, Coy Meyring and wife Leslie, Becky Meyring, Ty Keeling and wife Sarah, Tonya Mooradian, Donna Swenson and husband Scott, Andy Keeling and wife Sarah, and Sarah Sebazungu and husband Sylvain; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers are Chris Mauritzen, Cliff Todd, Ralph Todd, John Crisp, Dr. Wayne Kyle, Troy Davis, and Richard Thomas. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Dr. W.C. Smith, Robbie Smith, Ken Turner, and Ike Reeves.
