Obituary

Carylon Sue Carter, 74, of DeBerry, passed away on Thursday morning, Nov. 2, 2017, at her home in DeBerry. She was born on Dec. 1, 1942, in Yazoo City, MS to the late Clifford and Edith Minor Adkins. She graduated from Elysian Fields High School with the class of 1960. Mrs. Carter married Charlie Wayne Carter on July 6, 1963, in DeBerry. Mrs. Carter worked at the DeBerry Post Office for many years and later as a clerical worker in the oil field industry until her retirement. She was a member of DeBerry Baptist Church and enjoyed playing the piano at The Church of the Gospel in Beckville. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lawrence Vanderpool; and sister, Charlotte Vanderpool.

Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Charlie Carter of DeBerry; son, Wayne Carter and wife Jeannie of Waskom; daughter, Rebecca Cameron of DeBerry; brothers, Clifford Adkins and wife Lois of Riverton, Iowa and John Adkins of Omaha, Nebraska; sister, Betty Goswick of DeBerry; and grandchildren, Trace Carter and wife Kelsie and John Ty Carter.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bruce Head and Pastor Eric Wilburn officiating. Interment will follow in DeBerry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Trace Carter, Ty Carter, Pete May, Marvin May, Russell Wayne Bailey, and Jay Goswick.

Honorary pallbearer is Clint Carter.
