Obituary

Carrol Thomas Brooks, 74, of Beckville, passed away on Wednesday morning, Jan. 20, 2016, in Longview. He was born on Sept. 13, 1941, in Carthage to the late William Forest and Lillian Nelson Brooks. He graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1959, attended Panola College, and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Texas A& M. He married Sammie Lou Bell on Sept. 1, 1962, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 2005, after 42 years of marriage. Bro. Carrol served as the minister at Liberty Baptist Church in the Brooks Community for over 32 years. He was a former member of Farley Street Baptist Church in Waxahachie, and was currently a member and Associate Pastor at Antioch Baptist Church in the Antioch Community near Carthage. Carrol enjoyed woodworking, genealogy, and history.

He is survived by his daughters, Cindy Hodges and husband Randal and Sonya Brooks all of Gilmer and grandchildren, Hannah Hodges, J.C. Hodges and wife Jennifer and their children John and Makenna of Tatum, and Steven Hodges and wife Kate of Las Vegas. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Bro. Carrol.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rodger Cole and Bro. T.C. Haynes officiating. Interment will follow in Martin Cemetery with Bro. Thomas Monroe officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Jerry Phillips, David Yule, Clint Jones, J.C. Hodges, Jon Hooker, and Brad Weems.

Honorary pallbearer is Steven Hodges.
