A funeral service for Mrs. Carrie Mae Jeter Henderson, age 67, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Carthage with Rev. J.T. Harris officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Henderson passed away on Thursday evening, Sept. 19, 2013, in Carthage.
Carrie Mae Jeter Henderson was born on March 10, 1946, in Panola County, TX to Homer and Vera Roberts Jeter. She graduated from Turner High School in Carthage with the class of 1963. Mrs. Henderson went to Panola College where she earned her nursing degree in 1972. She worked as a nurse at Panola General Hospital until her retirement. Mrs. Henderson lived her lifetime in Carthage and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mildred Fletcher.
Mrs. Henderson is survived by one son, Sir Syrus Henderson and wife Holly of Tyler; one daughter, Gwyndalyn Henderson of Carthage; two brothers, Elijah Jeter of DeBerry and James Roy Jeter and wife Ruby of Shreveport; two sisters, Ruthy Cook and husband James of DeBerry and Elsie Eaton and husband Joe of League City; five grandchildren, Lemarcus Henderson and wife Jasmine, Bresyrian Henderson, O'Bryan Washington, Starr Barlow, and Saryiah Henderson; and one great-granddaughter, Addyln Henderson.
