Carolyn Sledge, 79, of DeBerry, Texas, passed away on Tuesday morning, January 24, 2023, at her home in DeBerry. Mary Carolyn Hendrix was born on December 14, 1943, in Rayville, Louisiana, to the late David Matthew and Cora Farrar Hendrix. She graduated from Holly Ridge High School in Richland Parrish, Louisiana with the class of 1961. Carolyn later earned her LPN at Vo-Tech Community College in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a nurse at The Guesthouse in Shreveport until her retirement.  Carolyn loved reading, working crossword puzzles, and gardening. Carolyn was of the Baptist faith. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Kelly Ray Hollis and Jimmie Lewis Sledge; daughter, Dana Ann Hollis; brother, Jimmy Hendrix and wife Lanelle; sister, Bobbie Jean Brister and husband Buck; and daughter-in-law, Cynthia Hollis.

Carolyn is survived by her son, David Boyce "Bubba" Hollis; sister, Patricia Copes and husband Freddie; nieces, Sonia Reiter and husband Dan, Judy Hines and husband Carl, Kim Morris and husband Phillip, Tammy Adams, Karen Courville and husband Roy, and Linda Mickulec and husband Larry; special friends, Donnie Beason, Annetta Cagle, Angela Petty, and Kathy Kenney; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and many friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Marshall Homecare and Hospice for the excellent care provided to Carolyn.

Cremation arrangements are by Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Bethany Methodist Church, 154 US Hwy 79N, DeBerry, Texas.
