Cardie Mae Delaney Jones, 87, of Carthage, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017, in Longview. She was born on Aug. 15, 1929, in Panola County to the late Lee and Evaline Buckingham Delaney. Mrs. Jones attended Carthage Schools while growing up. She married Jewel Jones on June 16, 1946, in Panola County and he preceded her in death on March 10, 1969. Mrs. Jones loved her flowers, yard work, her church, and her family dearly. She had lived her lifetime in Panola County where she was a member of Harmony C.M.E. Church and attended Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by 2 sons, J.B. Jones and Charles Edward Jones, Sr. and 9 siblings.
Left to cherish her memory are sons, Freddie Carl Jones of Carthage, Kenneth Wayne Jones of Carthage, and Ronny E. Jones of Longview; sister, Alene Simmons of Shreveport; daughters-in-law, Clara Jones of Carthage and Betty Jones of Longview; 12 grandchildren; and a host of great and great-great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Jones.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. James E. Delaney officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Centennial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers are Mrs. Jones' grandsons.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Freddie Jones, Ronny Jones, Kenneth Jones, Lee Simmons, Jr., James E. Jones and Reginald Jones.
