Calvin Earl Jones, Sr. , 61, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Thursday morning, Dec. 14, 2017, in Carthage. He was born on July 20, 1956, in Carthage to the late James Allen and Arbie Lee Bryant Jones. He attended Beckville schools and worked as a millwright at Louisiana Pacific for many years. Calvin lived his lifetime in Panola County and was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Beckville. In addition to his parents, Calvin was also preceded in death by a sister, Glenda Jones.

Survivors include his children, Calvin E. Jones, Jr. and Kimberly S. Jones both of Carthage; brother, Alvin Jones and wife Bernice of Carthage; sister, Linda Jones of Houston; grandchildren, Zackary Gates, Celedria Gates, Alia Gates, and Darius Gates, Jr., great-grandchild, Blaine Gates-Call; and a great-grandchild on the way, Zaidee Miller. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive Calvin.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Hubert Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Holland's Quarters Cemetery. Mr. Jones will be in-state from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Brandon Jones, John Jordan, Colby Small, Cleophus Holland, Wendall Sims and Ozell Holland, Jr.  Honorary pallbearers are Calvin Jones, Jr., Zachary Gates, Darius Gates, Jr., Alvin Jones, Alex Jones, Alvin Gerard Jones, Louis Gaines, III, Jamal Mitchell and Anthony Leija-Jones.
