A funeral service for Bruce Anthony Rickert, 80, of Carthage, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keefe Cropper and Rev. Leah Hanks officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Rickert passed away on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 11, 2015, in Shreveport.
Bruce Anthony Rickert was born on Jan. 10, 1935, in Jim Thorpe, PA to the late Elmer Elsworth and Naomi Winnefred Reabold Rickert. He graduated from Yeadon High School, a suburb of Philadelphia, in 1952. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged. Bruce married the love of his life Rebecca Ann Bryan on Dec. 10, 1955, in Canton, MS and she preceded him in death on Apr. 16, 2009. He moved to Carthage in 1970, from Bradenton, FL, and began work at Carthage Cup, eventually becoming plant manager. In 1992, he accepted a plant manager position with Fabri-Kal Corp in Greenville, SC where he retired from in 1996. Mr. Rickert and his wife built the Skating Rink along with many other businesses in Carthage. Bruce was a devoted member of Lions Club, locally and internationally. He held many positions including Past District Governor of District 2-S1 1980-1981 and received many awards including The Ambassador of Good Will Award in 2007 and was inducted into the Texas Lions Hall of Fame in 2008. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Rickert was also preceded in death by a grandson, Eric McDaniel and his brother, Wilmer Allen Rickert.
Mr. Rickert is survived by two sons, Curtis Rickert and wife Cindy of Bossier City and Bryan Rickert and fiancé Brenda Irion of Carthage; two daughters, Debbie Lauth and husband Danny of Newport, TN and Nancy Daugereau and husband Greg of Carthage; grandchildren, Greg and Steve Rickert, Jessica Husban, Danielle Lauth, Tobius and Kimberly Daugereau, and Bryce Rickert; great-grandchildren, Mason Lee Rickert, McKinleigh Ann Rickert, Alexander Thomas Rickert, and Tasneem Husban; step-grandchildren, Jacob Irion and wife Tausha, Taylor Irion, and Valerie Jones; and step-great-grandchildren, Matthew and Breagan Boniol, Jonathan Daugereau, and Carson, Kaitlyn, and Kaidence Irion. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive Mr. Rickert.
Serving as pallbearers are Greg Rickert, Steve Rickert, Bryce Rickert, Greg Daugereau, and Danny Lauth.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are the Lions Club members.
