Bruce Maines, 63, of the Antioch Community in Panola County, TX, went to his heavenly home on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 11, 2021, at his home in Antioch. He was born on March 27, 1957, in Carthage, TX, to the late Reuben Wayne and Ella Bea Bush Maines. He graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1975. Bruce graduated from Panola College and Stephen F. Austin State University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture Business. He married Polly Acker on May 23, 1987, in Beckville, TX and they enjoyed over 34 years together, raising their two children in the Antioch Community. Bruce worked for over 40 years in the oil and gas industry before his retirement. In retirement, Bruce became a "professional piddler." He lived his lifetime in Panola County and was an active and longtime member of Antioch Baptist Church. Bruce loved the Lord and loved to sing with his guitar. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, attending softball games where he served as the official ballpark dad and always had a special bond with those girls whose dads where unable to attend the games. Bruce enjoyed camping and working on his tractor. He was a master woodcraftsman. Bruce will never be forgotten and his memory and legacy will go on forever.

He is survived by his loving wife, Polly Acker Maines of Antioch; son, Lucas "Luke" Maines of Oklahoma City; daughter, Kacey Morris and husband Josh of Antioch; sister, Linda Abernathy of Antioch; nephew, Keith Abernathy and wife Casey and their children, Kendal and Callie; nephew, Clay Abernathy and wife Kenze and their child Jaxton; nephew, Jason Abernathy and wife Chelsea and their child, Dawson; and many other family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Spurgeon and Bro. Rodger Cole officiating. Interment will follow in Walton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Tim Snow, Justin Smith, Mike Hanks, Elton Weems, Charlie Clements, and Rodney Nolen.
