Brenda Wilkerson, age 76, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Friday morning, January 31, 2025, at her home near Carthage. Brenda Lee Hayes was born on January 21, 1949, in Minden, Louisiana to the late Melvin John and Margaret Lucille Triplett Hayes. She graduated from high school in Minden with the class of 1967, and attended Business College. Brenda married Winfred Dwain "Butch" Wilkerson on September 20, 2013, in Florida. She began her 30-year career in education at Gary I.S.D. and then she moved to Carthage I.S.D. where she worked as an attendance clerk until her retirement in 2009. Brenda loved fishing and all animals, especially her horses. She moved to Carthage in 1978, from Sibley, Louisiana and was a member of the Stillwater's Cowboy Church. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Wanda Forbes and Joy Ogden.

She is survived by her husband, Butch Wilkerson; sons, Ty Austin and Charles Foshee; grandchildren, Paige, Erin, Hope, and Harper; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and lifelong friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Matt Comer officiating. Interment will follow in Dennis Cemetery in Cass County, Texas with Chaplain Nathan Firmin officiating. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Kason Wilkerson, Damian Jeffcoat, Shawn Schumacher, Kipp Wilkerson, William Steinhardt, and Michael Forbes.

Honorary pallbearers are Kory Payne, Dakota Payne, and Charles Sears, Jr.
