Brenda Lightfoot, 61, of Carthage, Texas, passed away Thursday afternoon, May 22, 2025, at her home in the Riderville Community near Carthage. Brenda Lee Hartley was born in Carthage, Texas on May 7, 1964, to Edward Burke "Bert" and Bobbie Elaine Coleman Hartley. She graduated from Carthage High School with the Class of 1982 and attended Panola College. Brenda earned a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Texas in Tyler. She enjoyed a 25-year career as a schoolteacher. Brenda loved horses and was a member of the Sabine Riding Club. She married Robert Douglas "Doug" Lightfoot on January 15, 1982, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Carthage. Brenda lived her lifetime in Carthage where she was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Burke Hartley and a brother, Edward Glen Hartley.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Doug Lightfoot; mother, Bobbie Elaine Hartley; daughters, Ashley Hoell and husband Lee and Amber Montana and husband Steven; siblings, Anthony Hartley and wife Lori and Vicki Heinkel and husband Jason; grandchildren, Kaylee Ransom and husband Tanner, Weslee Hoell, and Bailey Montana; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bob Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Brenda's caregivers including Accent Care, Caring Hearts Caregivers, Mistery, Sandra and Gail, and Hospice Plus, Kim and Latoya.

Pallbearers are Johnny Yates, Derek Yates, Ryan Hartley, David Lamborn, Brenton Carroll, and Mark Rushing.
