Funeral services for Mr. Braxton L. Cash, age 67 of the Fairplay Community of Panola County, Texas, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2009 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Baze officiating. Interment will follow in Waldrop Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Cash passed away on Thursday night, January 8, 2009 in Carthage.

Braxton LeRoy Cash was born on August 5, 1941 in Joplin, Missouri to Samuel Elza and Nellie Mae Dawson Cash. Mr. Cash attended the Joplin Heights schools. He served his country in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne Division and as an M.P. He married Lucy Shelton on January 18, 1962 in Erin, Tennessee. Mr. Cash worked as an electrician for TXU for 27 years, retiring in May of 2007. He was a member of the IBEW Union Local # 2337. He loved hunting and fishing. Mr. Cash lived in Panola County for the past 20 years, moving from Marshall. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Cash was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Lenval A. Cash; and one sister, Velma Horner.

Mr. Cash is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lucy Cash of Fairplay; two sons, Rex Cash and wife Paula and Lenval Cash and wife Joann all of Fairplay; one daughter, Michelle Buchanan and husband Chuck of Fairplay; and one brother, Nelson Cash and wife Jan of Corpus Christi; eight grandchildren, Sharlyt Smith and husband Chris, Brigitte Buchanan and husband Jay, Beth Poore and husband Randy, Chuckie Buchanan, Christopher Cash, Jennifer Goins, Montana Cash, and Samuel Cash; and eight great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Cash.

Serving as pallbearers are Rex Cash, Lenval Cash, Chuckie Buchanan, Charles Buchanan, John Favron, and Steve Marling. Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Christopher Cash.
