Bobby Jackson Bullard, 91, of Lake Murvaul, passed away on Tuesday morning, Dec. 27, 2016, at his home. He was born on May 11, 1925, in Dardanelle, Ark. to the late Doler Pat and Bennie Mae Boothe Bullard. Mr. Bullard served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. He lived most of his life in Delhi and Tallulah, LA area where he owned and operated service station businesses for 13 years. In 1970, he moved to Carthage from Shreveport where he sold Culligan Water Conditioners for 10 years before working at CISD transportation department for 5 years. Mr. Bullard married Katherine Ann Weyant on Sept. 2, 1982, in Carthage and they shared many happy years together. He was a contractor in the area for the Dallas Morning News, retiring after 20 plus years. Bobby loved people and was a delight delivering the newspaper to the local stores early in the morning, sometimes being the only happy person with a laugh and a smile to start their day. One of his biggest assets was his friendly and happy attitude with a firm belief in God and being a man of his word. Mr. Bullard was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Bobby Jackson Bullard, Jr.; brothers, Winfred and Sammy Bullard; sister, Ola Jane Bullard; and sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Marzelle Melton.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Katherine Bullard of Lake Murvaul; son Jerry Bullard and wife Catherine of Bossier City; son, Robert Weyant of Carthage; grandchildren, Cindi Smith and husband Tim, Hunter Bullard, Jarred Bullard and wife Karen, and Melissa Bullard all of Bossier City; great-grandchildren, Austin, Kimberly, Sarah, Jacob, Tyler, Linlee, and Kaylee; brothers, O.B. Bullard and wife Geneva of Blytheville, Ark. and Pat Bullard and wife Libby of Tallulah, LA; sister, Virginia Caviness and husband Gene of Delhi, LA; and sister-in-law, Joan Bullard of Lake Providence, LA.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Kirby Hill officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in Rehobeth Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
