Obituary
Funeral services for Mr. Bob Shuttlesworth, age 85, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Apr. 6, 2012, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Freddy Mason and Dr. Kirby Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Shuttlesworth passed away on Wednesday afternoon, Apr. 4, 2012, in Carthage.
Robert Moody "Bob" Shuttlesworth was born on Sept. 25, 1926, in Salem, TX, to George W. and Lillie Arena Gray Shuttlesworth. He married Glenna Ruth Thomas on June 29, 1952, in Lindale, TX and she preceded him in death on Apr. 16, 2000. Mr. Shuttlesworth worked as a butcher most of his life, owning and operating Bob's Super Handy Grocery, Papa Bear's Restaurant, and later in his career sold produce for many years until his retirement. He moved to Carthage in 1958, from Troup, TX and was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in the Snap Community. Mr. Shuttlesworth was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lloyd Shuttlesworth; three sisters, Alma Ruth Moran, Tommie Leotice Shuttlesworth, and Doris Ann Clements; one daughter-in-law, Kay Shuttlesworth; and one grandson-in-law, Matt Hines.
Mr. Shuttlesworth is survived by four children, Debbie Lowery and husband Roy Lee of Irving, Steve Shuttlesworth and wife Denise of Carthage, George Shuttlesworth and wife Mitzi of Carthage, and Melissa Mullins of Burleson; six grandchildren, Keith Shuttlesworth of Dotson, Toni Dussex and husband Chris of Longview, Kimberly Shuttlesworth of Austin, Amber Cheatwood of Carthage, and Jacob and Kamille Bethmann of Burleson; and one great-grandchild, Coen Hines of Longview. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Shuttlesworth.
Serving as pallbearers are Ronnie LaGrone, Dennis LaGrone, Tommy Ishee, Michael Smith, Jerry Morris, Mike Marshall, and Jody Castle
Serving as honorary pallbearers are James Fields, John Goolsby, Coley Shuttlesworth, John Shuttlesworth, and Walter Parker.
