A graveside service for Mr. Billy Floyd Stewart, age 86, of Laurel, Mississippi, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Boynton Cemetery in Long Branch, TX under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Mr. Stewart passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at his residence in Laurel.

Billy Floyd Stewart was born on Aug. 2, 1926, in Gorman, TX to Willie Floyd and Ester Ethel Torrence Stewart. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII and was honorably discharged. Mr. Stewart married Betty Jean Holder on Aug. 15, 1947, in Odessa, TX and she preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 2005, after 57 years of marriage. He was an avid golfer and a member of Dixie Golf Club for 35 years. He owned and operated Stewart Testing, Inc. until his retirement and was affectionately known by his employees as "Old Man". He moved to Laurel in 1976, from Citronelle, AL. Mr. Stewart was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Wayne and James Stewart.

Mr. Stewart is survived by his son, Billy L. Stewart and wife Nettie of Orange Beach , AL; grandson, Trent Stewart of Laurel, MS; granddaughter, Nichole Allen Pierce of Laurel, MS; brother, Earlee Stewart and wife Joyce of Van, TX; sisters-in-law, Paddy Stewart of Vernon, TX, Elizabeth Stewart of New Iberia, LA, Jill Holder of Midland, TX; great-grandchildren, Matthew Stewart and wife Ashley of Laurel, MS, Megan Guthrie and husband Matt of Purvis, MS, and Elizabeth Stewart of Laurel, MS; great-great grandchild, Merylin Guthrie of Purvis, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews.
