Billy Joe Ross, 74, of Beckville, passed away on Tuesday morning, Dec. 11, 2018, in Longview. He was born on Sept. 6, 1944, in Beckville to the late Elvis Marlin and Elvesta Faulkner Ross. He attended Beckville schools and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Ross married Marilyn Sue Cook on Feb. 5, 1971, in Beckville. He worked as a welder at Letourneau for over 25 years before retiring. Mr. Ross later worked at Carthage Cup, Brookshire Bros. and at Wal-Mart. He loved fishing, camping, and football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. Mr. Ross lived his lifetime in Panola County and attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by an infant sister and sister, Patsy Ruth Ross.

Mr. Ross is survived by his wife, Marilyn Ross; sons, Michael Ross and Elvis "Bubba" Ross and wife Rachael all of Beckville; brother, Marlin Ross and wife Dorothy of Palestine; twin sister, Bobbie Cecil of Carthage; sisters, Ola Rene Jester and husband Richard of Tyler, Mary Louise Bryant and husband Robert Wayne of Old Center, and Kathy Shivers and husband Paul of Carthage; and grandchildren, Ashley, Micah, Noah, Clayton, Waylon, and Lilly Ross.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Weaver officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow with military honors in Langley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Pallbearers are Shane Bryant, Dwain Ross, Dakota Brown, Garry Lilly, Steve Harvey and Rowdy Richmond.
