Billy Shanon McKissack, 57, of Longview, TX, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020, in Dallas, TX. He was born on Jan. 5, 1963, in Overton, TX to Billy Mack McKissack and Linda Joy Stracener McKissack. He worked for many years as a welder, mostly in power plants. Billy enjoyed farming, ranching, motorcycles and his favorite thing to do was work. He enjoyed virtually attending the Bar None Cowboy Church in Tatum, TX. His father preceded him in death.

Survivors include his mother, Linda Crawford and husband Jimmy of Beckville; son, Major Sterling McKissack, M.D. and wife Michaela of El Paso; daughter, Samantha McKissack and husband Jeremy of Hawkins; sister, Lida Vega and husband Eddie of Longview; and grandchildren, Alyssa Kelly, Colby Glass, Bradyn Glass, Emma Glass, Charlotte McKissack, and one on the way.

Cremation arrangements are by Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
