A funeral service for Mr. Billy Ray Brown, age 69, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Travis Biggs officiating. Interment will follow in Clayton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Brown passed away on Saturday morning, Jan. 19, 2013, in Carthage.

Billy Ray Brown was born on Oct. 17, 1943, in Timpson, TX to Preston and Opal McDaniel Brown. He married Sandra Jean Donberger Chaffin on Apr. 15, 1972, in Love County, OK. Mr. Brown was the owner and operator of Ballistic Transport, an armored and security vehicle manufacturing company, until his retirement. He moved back to Carthage in 1999 from Carrollton, TX. He enjoyed selling, trading, repairing cars and houses, and was a jack of all trades. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Sandra Sue Brown; and one brother, Marlis Cleveland Brown.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Sandra Brown-Chaffin of Carthage; two sons, Steven Brown and wife June of Melissa, TX and Rodney Chaffin and wife Diana of Wichita, KS; sister, Cathy Sells and husband Wayne of Clayton; sister-in-law, Mary Brown of Clayton; four grandchildren, Brittnee and Brandon Brown, Heather Bevan and husband Tim and Courtney Shearhod and husband Tyler; and four great-grandchildren, Braeden and Brielle Bevan and Hunter and Hayden Brown. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Brown.

Serving as pallbearers are Jamie Brown, Mike Brown, Brandon Brown, Stanley Biggs, Tim Spahn, and Travis Sells.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Robert Pope, Roger Schmitz, Rick Reader, and Randy Reader.
