Funeral services for Mrs. Billie Bowen Ross, age 87 of Carthage, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February, 26, 2006 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Allen Tilley and Brother Dale Reed officiating. Interment will follow in the Clayton Cemetery under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Ross passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2006 in Marshall, Texas.
Willie Jesse "Billie" Bowen Ross was born on July 2, 1918 in Marshall, Texas to Jesse and Cleo Munden Bowen. Mrs. Ross married Brinson Ross on May 25, 1941 in Panola County, Texas. She loved to read and work cross word puzzles. Mrs. Ross enjoyed watching baseball and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. She also enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, sometimes. She was a good cook and loved her family dearly. Mrs. Ross had lived most of her life in Panola County and was a member of the First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, on October 10, 1978; sister, Elizabeth Knight; and brother, J. E. Bowen.
Mrs. Ross is survived by three sons, Jesse Ross and wife Ann of Lake Murvaul, Mike Ross and wife Sue of Carthage, and Larry Ross and wife Vickey of the Rock Hill Community; one daughter, Betty Lawhorn and husband Tommy of Carthage; one brother, Jack Bowen and wife Lucille of Carthage; twelve grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive Mrs. Ross.
Serving as pallbearers are J. R. Ross, Josh Ross, Mart Joines, Bruce Burge, Dale Lawhorn, and Gene Lawhorn. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Tommy Knight and Dale Jones.
