Beverly Kaye Hicks McMillian, 62, of Beckville, TX, passed away on Wednesday morning, Sept. 30, 2020, in Longview, TX. She was born on Jan. 30, 1958, in Carthage to the late Willie Kay and Lennie Joe Moore Hicks. Beverly graduated from Beckville High School with the class of 1976, where she lettered in basketball and track, and was a cheerleader.  She then attended Panola College where she earned her CNA certification. She married Sammy Lynn McMillian, Sr. on Jan. 17, 1979, in Beckville. Mrs. McMillian worked as a CNA and as a teacher's aide for many years before her retirement. She loved cooking, playing with her grandchildren, and spending time with her family. Mrs. McMillian was a member of Bethel C.M.E. in Beckville where she served as an usher and sang in the choir. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Kay and Lennie Joe Moore Hicks; father-in-law, Sam Parker; mothers-in-law, Mercedes McMillian and Mert Parker; and brothers-in-law, Romeo Parker and Earl J. Roberts (Aretha).

Survivors include her husband, Sammy McMillian of Beckville; children, Sammy L. McMillian, Jr. of Beckville, Ashley McMillian (Delrick Taylor) of Longview, and JoLesa McMillian of Longview; siblings, Evelyn James of Riverside, CA, David Hicks (Teresa) of Beckville, Raymond Hicks (Isaac Marie) of Longview, Joe Hicks (Ima) of Henderson, Cynthia Benton (Loston) of Ft. Worth, and Alvin Hicks (Lori) of Beckville; brothers-in-law, John W. McMillian (Anna), and Earl H. McMillian (Aretha); sisters-in-law, Shelia P. Grun (Nakita), and Paula Parker; and grandchildren, Daziya McMillian, Jakevious McMillian, Ja'Niya Taylor, and Delrick Taylor, Jr.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, at Bethel Cemetery in Beckville with Rev. Donald Daniels and Rev. Sheila Willis Timberlake officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. A viewing will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
