Betty Rodgers, 87 of Fair Play, TX, passed away on Monday morning, Feb. 17, 2020, in Carthage, TX. Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Rodgers was born on Dec. 29, 1932, in Wilkinsburg, PA to the late Lawrence W. and Leila Jane Snyder Havranek. She married Melvin A. Rodgers on July 17, 1978, in Houston and he preceded her in death on May 25, 2006. Mrs. Rodgers worked at Schultz USA in Houston as an office clerk for many years. She enjoyed trail riding on horseback, motorcycles, and reading. Mrs. Rodgers moved to Fair Play in 2001, and was a member of the Fair Play Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, William R. Woodward of Pennsylvania. She is also survived by her church family and many friends.

A viewing will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at Fair Play Baptist Church. A burial of cremains will be at Conley Cemetery in Fair Play at a later date.
