Betty Jean Ross Lawhorn, 83, of Carthage, TX passed away Friday evening, August 12, 2022 in Carthage. Betty Jean Ross was born October 10, 1938 in Shreveport, LA to the late Brinson and Billie Bowen Ross. Betty was a graduate of Carthage High School with the class of 1957. She married Tommy Joe Lawhorn on November 2, 1957 and together they celebrated 64 years. Betty worked for many years as a bookkeeper. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Carthage and loved spending time her granddaughters. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; and brothers, Bobby and Larry Ross.

Mrs. Lawhorn is survived by her loving husband, Tommy Lawhorn of Carthage; sons, Dale Lawhorn and wife Renee of Carthage, Gene Lawhorn and Robin Bostick of Carthage; granddaughters, Nikki Lawhorn of Huntsville, Carley Lawhorn of Carthage; and brother, Mike Ross and wife Sue of Carthage. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive Mrs. Lawhorn.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lawhorn will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 15, 2022 at the Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Stacey Cohorst and Bro. John DePresca officiating. Interment will follow in the City Cemetery under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. A time of visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Matt Tipton, Brad Tipton, Josh Ross, J.R. Ross, Blanton Rich and Austin Anthony.

In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to St. Jude's Children Research.
