Betty Burkett, 91, of Henderson, TX, passed away on Saturday morning, Feb. 6, 2021, in Crockett, TX. Betty Myrle Atwood was born on July 13, 1929, in Beckville, TX, to the late Tommie Clifton and Peanie Pigg Atwood. She graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1946, and earned an associate's degree from Panola College. Betty married Jerry L. Burkett on Oct. 31, 1980, in Ottaway, KS. She worked in farming and ranching and was a member of the Deadwood United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her son, Clyde Conway Jones, Jr.; parents; brother, Marion Allen Atwood and his wife Helen; sister, Hazel Burgess and her husband L.D.; brother, Tom Jeff Atwood; sister, Jimmie Fay Audry and her husband George; sister, Robbie Jo Lamb and her husband Chuck; and sisters-in-law, Lucille Harvey and Betty Jo Settle.

She is survived by her loving husband and friend of 40 years, Jerry Burkett of Henderson; daughters, Kelly Burkett of Beaumont and Kay Albritton of Shreveport; grandchildren, Christy Ogden of Longview, Joy Rhiddlehoover and husband Jimmy of Lufkin, Kaylee Genest of Beaumont, and Lexi Joy of Shreveport; great-grandchildren, Savanna Ogden, Jesse Ogden, Jentzen Ogden, Landon Rhiddlehoover, Reagan Rhiddlehoover, and Brenton Kade Mazzola; brother-in-law, John Harvey of Logansport, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and a host of friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jason Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Deadwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.

Honorary pallbearers are Landon Rhiddlehoover, Jesse Ogden, Jentzen Ogden, and Brenton Mazzola.
