Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Joe Bryan, age 77 of Henderson, Texas formerly of Tyler, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2006 at the First Freewill Baptist Church in Henderson with Reverend Harold Teague officiating. Interment will follow in Neeley Cemetery in Rusk County. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday evening in the sanctuary of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Henderson. Mrs. Bryan passed away Tuesday night, August 8, 2006 in Longview. Services are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home of Carthage.

Mrs. Betty Joe Wade Bryan was born in the Compton Community in Rusk County, Texas on October 25, 1928. She was the daughter of Van Ingram and Martha Josephine Craig Wade. Mrs. Bryan graduated from Henderson High School in 1947 and had lived most of her life in Rusk County. She was the co-owner of the Bryan Funeral Home of Henderson from 1965 to 1975 where she served and helped many families in their time of loss of a loved one. People still remember, to this day, what she did to help each family the Bryan Funeral Home served. Mrs. Bryan was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star #597 and Rebekah #95 of Henderson. She served as the Activity Director at the Glenview Nursing Home in Tyler for sixteen years, retiring in 1998. Mrs. Bryan was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary Frances Richardson; great-grandson, Tyler Mason Sutton; sister-in-law, Marcy Lynn Wade; brother-in-law, Martin Richardson; and nephew, Douglas Wade Jr.

Mrs. Bryan is survived by her son, Randy Bryan and wife Carole Bryan of Laneville; brother, Douglas Wade, Sr. of Sour Lake; four grandchildren, Kevin Bryan and wife Mollie of Henderson, Jeremy Bryan and wife Staci of Round Rock, Kim Mims of Henderson, and Suzette Sutton and husband Shawn of Tyler; seven great-grandchildren, Graham Bryan, Jolie Bryan, Will Bryan, Cody Abbott, Casey Abbott, Justin Mims, and Patrick Sutton.

Serving as pallbearers are Rex Ashby, Wayne Sanders, David Bryan, Barry Wade, Mike Nelson, Chris Cross, and Randy Youngblood.
