Obituary

Betty Sue Banks, 80, of Carthage, TX, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 16, 2022, at her home in Carthage surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Sept. 22, 1941, in Snyder, TX to the late Pellum Alvin "P.A." and Dovie Love Way Ware. Betty married Jimmy Lee Banks on June 1, 1957. This June, they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Banks was a hairdresser for 50 years. She was also a homemaker, who loved to decorate and do crafts and have large family gatherings. Betty loved the Lord with all her heart. She passed the Godly heritage down to her children and grandchildren. Some of her last words were, "I want to see Jesus." Betty was a member of Cross Roads Worship Center of Long Branch, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pellum and Dovie Ware and sister, Lovie Dove Ware.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Banks of Carthage; daughters, Tammy Hudson and husband Gaylon of Carthage, Tonja Menges and husband Danny of Longview, and Tracy Banks of Long Branch; special daughter, Cherilyn Caraway; granddaughters, April Rhodes and husband Shawn of Longview, Xandy Ballard and husband Robert of Snyder, and Nikki Castillo and husband Salvador of Carthage; grandson, Danny Lee Menges and wife Jennifer of Longview; 15 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and Mema was excited about her newest great-great-granddaughter arriving February 28 th . She is also survived by numerous loving family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tracy Banks and Danny Menges officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. Private graveside rites to be held at a later date.

Honorary pallbearers are Danny Lee Menges, Shawn Rhodes, Robert Ballard, and Salvador Castillo.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to her caregiver, Tina Hudnall and all the nurses and aides with Compass of Longview for their loving care provided to Mrs. Banks.
