Bertie Mae Donham Jackson, age 91, was born November 26, 1934, in Eastland County, Texas, to William Tandy Donham and Bertha Pence Donham. She spent most of her life in Eastland County before moving to Carthage, Texas, in 2021. She entered her heavenly home on June 10, 2026.

Bertie was the oldest of five children and graduated as Salutatorian of her class from Cisco High School. After graduation, she worked several jobs in Cisco before becoming secretary of First Baptist Church of Cisco.

On April 14, 1956, she married Drew Dan Jackson. Together they built a life in Eastland County, farming and raising their family. Bertie faithfully supported the farm operation while managing the household and keeping meticulous financial records.

Bertie and Drew Dan were deeply committed to their church throughout their lives. Bertie taught the Beginner Sunday School class for many years, prepared countless dishes for church fellowships, opened her home for youth gatherings, and faithfully studied God’s Word. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, preserving produce from the family garden, reading cookbooks, and trying new recipes. She especially loved spending time with her family and keeping up with the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Most importantly, Bertie loved the Lord and served Him with quiet humility. She was known for her strength, kindness, wisdom, grace, and steadfast faith. Her gentle spirit, loving heart, and faithful example have left a lasting legacy in the lives of all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Drew Dan Jackson; her infant brother, Billy Ray Donham; her brother, James Donham, and his wife, Mary; her sister-in-law, Loretta Donham, and her son-in-law, Mike Rodgers.

She is survived by her children, Alan Jackson (Debbie), Cindy Rodgers, and Stephen Jackson (Annissa); her grandchildren, Renee Francis (Matt), Mike Jackson (Natalie), Eric Jackson (Michelle), Lisa Rowan (Jackson), Lori Hercun (Free), Drew Jackson (Molly), and William Jackson; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings, W.T. Donham, Jean Zeihr (Roland), Judy Atkinson (Jimmy) and her sisters-in-law, Betty Jane Jackson and Patsy Sims.
