A mass of Christian burial for Mr. Bernardo Luna, age 62, of Tatum, Texas will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, September 14, 2006 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Tatum with Father Rene Ramirez officiating. Interment will follow in the Tatum Cemetery under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. A mass will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday evening at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Luna passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2006 in Tyler, Texas.
Bernardo Luna was born on August 7, 1944 in Rioverde, SLP, Mexico to Bruno and Matea Diaz Luna. Mr. Luna married Maria Oviedo on April 3, 1964. He worked as an equipment operator for Gregg Services at Texas Utilities. He had lived in Tatum since 1980. He loved fishing, hunting, and horseback riding. He also enjoyed playing dominos, cards, and pool. He was a loving father and grandfather. He loved life. Mr. Luna was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Tatum. He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Luna is survived by his wife of 43 years, Maria Oviedo Luna of Tatum; his mother, Matea Diaz Luna of Rioverde, SLP, Mexico; four sons, Martin Luna and wife Kelli of Tatum, Aurelio Luna and wife Rachael of Watertown, NY, Solomon Luna and wife Gloria of Mt. Pleasant, and Bale Luna and wife Olivia of Tatum; two daughters, Maria Cruz Maldonado and husband Horacio of Tatum and Luz Maria Trejo and husband Gerardo of Wichita Falls; three brothers, Rodrigo Luna, Gilberto Luna, and Prisco Luna; four sisters, Cirila Luna, Virginia Luna, Bernadina Luna Hernandez, and Maria Luna; seventeen grandchildren, Eric, David, Ryan, Jesse, Michael, Cristian, Vance, Geana, Alina, Juanita, Rey, Lorenzo, Lucero, Lexi, Lilly, Alexis, and Luis. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive Mr. Luna.
Serving as pallbearers are Mr. Luna's sons, sons-in-law, brothers, grandsons, nephews, and special friend, Claude Franks.
