Bernando L. Franklin , 42, of Carthage, passed away on Thursday morning, May 31, 2018, in Carthage. He was born on Oct. 31, 1975, in Carthage to Barry and Toni Ware Franklin. He graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1994. He attended Texas Tech University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and later earned a Masters Degree in Psychology from UT San Antonio. He worked as a registered nurse for Mobile Eye Care in Lubbock. He lived most of his life in Carthage and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, R. Lee and Annie Lois Franklin and Thomas and Georgia Mae Ware; sister, Shueraveion Franklin; and aunt, Annie Davis.

Survivors include his parents, Barry and Toni Franklin of Carthage; son, Devounta Giles of California; siblings, Versheaka Yasha Bennett and husband Eric, Chris Nealy and wife Megan, and Ahmod Franklin and wife Jennifer all of Carthage; uncles and aunts, R.L. and Shirley Franklin, Raymond and Olera Franklin, Loretta and Arthur Collier, Sharla Sanders, Shirley and Roosevelt Walton, and Joanne Ford all of Carthage; and great-aunts, Rubbie Mitchell of Tyler and Esther Anderson and husband Calvin of Pine Hill.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with Rev. J.T. Harris officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Holland's Quarter Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 12 noon until 5 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Earnest Smith, Antonio Bennett, Freman Thomas, Deadriane Bell, Anthony Allison, Raydell Pipkin, Karlan Johnson and Joshua Chandler.  Honorary pallbearers are Ahmod Franklin, Arthur Collier, Christian Nealy, Fer'Daveion Thomas, Chris Nealy Franklin, Eric Bennett, Makkarius Franklin, Larry Sanders Jr., Raymond Franklin and Rili Franklin.
