Beatrice Parks, 91, of Carthage, Texas, passed away Friday morning, October 4, 2024, in Carthage. Mary Beatrice Goodwyn was born to the late Jimmy Hogg and Mary Gladys Risinger Goodwyn on July 25, 1933, in Shelby County, Texas. She graduated from Shelbyville High School. Beatrice married Carson Newman Parks on February 1, 1952, in Liberty County, Texas, and he preceded her in death on October 14, 2006. She worked for many years at Sears in Port Arthur before moving to Vidor and later to Carthage where she worked for Paul Carter at Panola Furniture. Beatrice was also preceded in death by her sisters, Evelyn Wagstaff and Alice Joy Cooper; brother, Thomas Allen Goodwyn; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons, Edward "Tex" Parks and wife Donnette of Clayton and Wade "Little Tex" Parks; grandchildren, Chad Parks and wife Kim, Sunny Britt and husband Jamie, Jesse Parks and wife Carman, Jimmy Parks and wife Courtney, and Samantha Jeans and husband Morgan; 14 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren with one on the way.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Patroon Cemetery in Shelby County under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
