Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Wedgeworth, of Carthage, Texas, will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at Central Baptist Church in Carthage with Dr. Charles Dodson, Dr. William Everett, and Rev. Steve Jackson officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Clayton Cemetery. Mrs. Wedgeworth passed away on Sunday morning, December 20, 2009, in Tyler.

Barbara Jean Stage Wedgeworth was born on November 12, 1932, in Gorham, Kansas to Lorin Leondis and Alice Myrtle Gosser Stage. She married L. F. Wedgeworth, Jr. on August 31, 1956, in Fort Worth. In her early years, Mrs. Wedgeworth worked for Angus G. Wynne in the Dallas area. After moving to Carthage, she worked for the Panola County Attorneys Office and the First State Bank. She was currently the office manager for Bankhead Attorneys in Carthage as well as secretary for Travis Peak Royalty Corporation, having served in that capacity since 1985, and on the board of directors since 2004. Mrs. Wedgeworth was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Carrol Dean Stage; one sister, Suzie Walters; and her beloved dog, Annie.

Mrs. Wedgeworth is survived by her husband of 53 years, L. F. Wedgeworth, Jr. of Carthage; two brothers, Dale Stage and wife Bobbie of Mulberry, FL and Robert Stage and wife Brenda of Tulsa, OK; four sisters, Evalyn Forgerson and husband Carl of Dallas, Mary Dilbeck of Bixby, OK, Beverly Ramsey and husband Connie of Seminole, OK, and Avis Edwards and husband Bob of Bristow, OK.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mrs. Wedgeworth's great-nephews.
