Barbara Nichols, 86, formerly of DeBerry, TX, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, July 13, 2022, in Red Level, AL. Barbara Jo Murray was born on June 7, 1936, in Natchez, MS to the late Tom and Lucille Naomi Mann Murray. She married Lawrence Draper "L.D." Nichols on Nov. 20, 1954, in Kingsville, TX and he preceded her in death on July 18, 2011, after 56 years together. Mrs. Nichols moved to DeBerry in 1988, from Virginia Beach, VA. She was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas Murray Nichols; a brother, Rex Murray; and a great-granddaughter, Ruby Elizabeth Brooks.

She is survived by her daughter, Penny Marie Nichols; son, Lawrence Draper Nichols, Jr.; brother, Robert Murray; grandchildren, Robert, Katherine, Jessica, Lauren, Tina, and Mindy; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at the Carthage City Cemetery with Bro. Buddy Briggs officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
