Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Ray Moreland, age 61, of Carthage, TX will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rodney Puryear and Rev. David Hays officiating. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 on Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Moreland passed away on Saturday morning, June 19, 2010, in Longview.

Barbara Grace Ray Moreland was born on April 9, 1949, in Shreveport, LA to Henry Clay Ray and Margie Jean Anderson Ray. She graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1968. Barbara married Charlie Richard Moreland on Nov. 29, 1974, in Carthage. She loved watching her grandchildren play baseball and participate in the Sabine Riding Club. Barbara loved working at the Panola County Chamber of Commerce, where she was employed for the past 13 years, retiring this year as assistant vice-president. She lived in Carthage all of her life and was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church. Barbara was preceded in death by her father and one niece, Jaime Cox Halcumb.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 35 years, Charlie Moreland of Carthage; her mother, Margie Jean Anderson Ray of Shady Grove; two step-sons, Richard Lee Moreland of Carthage and James Michael Moreland and wife Cindy of DeBerry; one step-daughter, Teresa Gayle Ray of Shady Grove; four sisters, Martha Cox and husband James of Shady Grove, Susan Moreland of Carthage, Beth Ray of Shady Grove, and Helen Mercer and husband James of Shady Grove; and one brother, Terry Ray of Shady Grove. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Barbara.

Serving as pallbearers are Clay Cox, Len Ray, Jeremy Ray, Brannon Moreland, Dylen Mercer, and Bill Smith.
