Barbara Elaine Jones Walters, age 71, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Sunday morning, May 5, 2013, at her home in Carthage. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.

Barbara Elaine Jones Walters was born on Jan. 18, 1942, in Mt. Vernon, OH to Oscar Alvin and Wilda Leona Winterringer Jones. She enjoyed cooking, watching wrestling, and being with her grandchildren. Barbara moved to Carthage in 2005, from Joaquin. She was preceded in death by her father; two children, John Wayne and Tom Wayne Jones; one grandchild, Michael Lynn Ard; and three sisters, Letha Mae and Linda Diane Jones and Patti Marti.

Mrs. Walters is survived by her mother, Wilda Jones of Joaquin; three daughters, Tonda Shaw of West Monroe, LA, Becky Reynolds of Richland, WA, and Melissa Andrews and husband Clifton of Carthage; two sons, Wayne Hart and wife Wanda of Carthage and Scott Hassell and wife Geneva of Sweetwater, TN; three brothers, Buck Jones and wife Tereasa of Joaquin, Joe Jones and wife Valerie of Carthage, and Butch Jones of Mt. Vernon, OH; four sisters, Sue Shaffer and husband John of Mt. Vernon, OH, Paula Sholar of Carthage, Scottie Jones of Carthage, and Monica Simpson and husband Thomas of Carthage; 22 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Barbara.
