Graveside services for Mr. B. G. "Red" Riggins, age 73 of Hempstead, Texas will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 23rd. , 2006 at Furrh Cemetery in Panola County with Rev. Mervin Scott officiating. Mr. Riggins passed away on Tuesday , September 19, 2006 in Houston, Texas.
Mr. Burtis Gene "Red" Riggins was born on June 29, 1933 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He was the son of Thomas and Myrtle Riggins. He moved to Houston in 1957. "Red" was a lifetime Director of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, a past president of T. L. Walker Bearing, a Korean War Veteran, member of the American Legion Post #353 and a member of the First Baptist Church of Hempstead, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; Son, Scott; Parents, Thomas and Myrtle; Brothers, Tommy and Raymond; and a stepson, Larry Sepaugh.
Mr. Riggins is survived by his wife of 39 years Lois Riggins of Hempstead, Texas; Sister , Melba Fuller of Little Rock, Arkansas; Stepdaughter, Debbie Sellars and husband Charlie of Katy, Texas; Stepson, Stan Sepaugh and wife Lisa of Carthage, Texas; Sister-in-laws; Bernice Riggins and Freeda Riggins of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Dorothy Anders of Carthage, Texas; 10 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
