Athel Ardis Dahlgren Pierce, of Canton, Texas, was born on September 14, 1933.  She entered the portals of Glory on October 1, 2021, at the age of 88 years, 17 days. Athel was retired from Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages, but her talents were many.  She was a Sunday school teacher for many years, fostered 72 babies and young children, in addition to being a wonderful mom and grandmother.  She loved to garden, create beautiful quilts, work puzzles and made pillowcases for many a proud recipient.  She had a good ear for listening and fiercely loved her family and friends.

Athel is survived by her children, Gregory Pierce and wife Shelia of Hurst, Sarah Frazier and husband Donald of Dallas, and Stuart Pierce and wife Karla of Wills Point; grandchildren, Christe Speir, Brett Pierce and wife Joanie, John Lanier, and wife Laura, Rianna Brite and husband Bobby, Jody Lanier, and Steve Pierce and wife Natalie; great-grandchildren, Aaron Gregory and wife Alexis, Victoria Medina and husband Christian, Skyler Brite, Joshua Gregory and wife Yasmin, Jacob Gregory, Maggie Brite, Darren Pierce, Riley Pierce, Zachary Pierce, Lee Pierce, Kyle Pierce, Jeremy Pierce, Layne Pierce, and Heidi Pierce; great-great-grandchildren, Bentley, Waylon and Kaysen Gregory; sibling, brother-in-law, Bob Carney; and many nieces and nephews.

Athel is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Lee V. W. Pierce, parents Worth and Della (Hood) Dahlgren, sister Ruth Carney, grandson Stuart Riley Pierce and great grandson Yancey Sebastian Speir.

The visitation and viewing will be on Thursday, October 7, 2021, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Tyler Gospel Chapel, 10195 Hwy 31 E, Tyler, Texas 75705. The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Langley Cemetery, 2548 F.M. 124 East, Beckville, Texas.  If attending, please wear masks and practice reasonable social distancing.
