Anna S. Compton, 80, of Carthage, TX passed away on Wednesday morning, Oct. 12, 2016, at her home in Carthage. She was born on Oct. 26, 1935, in Brakpan, South Africa to the late Josef Du Plessis and Susanna Martina Elezabeta Van Der Linde. Mrs. Compton studied at Damelin and Kuswag Schools in South Africa. She married Kenneth Allen Compton on June 7, 1962, in Pretoria, South Africa and he preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1997. Mrs. Compton worked in the mortgage lending business since 1976. She was an avid fisherwoman, loved doing needlework in her spare time, and bowling with her family. Another hobby that gave her great joy was video games on her ipad. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Compton moved to Carthage in 2004, from Las Vegas.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Susanna Kenton and husband De Wayne of Canyon Lake, TX and Shaun Compton and wife Stephanie of Carthage, TX; siblings, Ritha Fenske and Lawrence Du Plessis and wife Winnie all of South Africa; and grandchildren, Kenneth and Hailey Compton. Numerous other family members and friends also survive Mrs. Compton.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel.
