Obituary

Ann McDaniel, 69, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Tuesday morning, July 26, 2022, in Longview, Texas. Elizabeth Ann Lloyd was born on Sept. 19, 1952, in Pittsburgh, Texas to the late Bruce Jenkins and Clara Genois Day Lloyd. She graduated from Winnsboro, Texas High School with the class of 1971. Ann married Raydon McDaniel on November 19, 1972, in Dallas. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of First Baptist Church in Carthage. Ann was preceded in death by brother, Lindley Lloyd.

She is survived by her husband, Ray McDaniel; daughter, Kim Housley and husband Jim; son, Alan McDaniel and wife Sondra; sister, Clara Ziegler; and grandchildren, Reed Housley and wife Emily, Kaelyn Housley, James Housley, Ruth Housley, Will McDaniel, and Lucas McDaniel.

Our Ann, Annie, Momma, Nana could do anything. She enjoyed quilting, fishing, sports (especially baseball!) and even better to watch her grand kids play. She was the very best cook and it gave her joy to make her family's favorites. She honored and wholly loved her husband, Ray, for 50 years. Ann was a servant at heart. She served in the Carthage Service League, Sammy Brown Library, and the Carthage Quilt Club. Her beautiful quilts reflected her attention to detail and beauty; she appreciated the simple things in life. She was strong—she had a contagious smile and sense of humor! She taught us to laugh and endure through the hardest times by example. She loved her Sunday School family at First Baptist Church. Ann knew the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior and her faith shone through to the end. She prayed earnestly and faithfully for her family and extended family. Matthew 23:11 says "But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant." She was the greatest. We honor her and are so grateful for the opportunity to experience her love and service to us.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022, at the Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Allen Tilley and Bro. Jim Housley officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Bobby Reed, Tracy Peace, Steve Reed, Dan Bruner, Louis Powell, and Steve Reyes.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Sammy Brown Library, 319 South Market, Carthage, Texas 75633, First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 548, Carthage, Texas 75633, or South Texas Children's Home, P.O. Box 1210, Beeville, Texas 78104-1210.
