A funeral service for Alvin Dexter Ingram, 56, of Carthage, will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Kirthell Roberts officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery in Gary, TX. Mr. Ingram will lie in state from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. He passed away on Friday afternoon, Jan. 9, 2015, in Nacogdoches.
Alvin Dexter Ingram was born on March 8, 1958, in Gary to the late Charles McCoy Ingram, Sr. and Jewelene Sanders Ingram. He attended Carthage High School with the class of 1976. He married Vickie Brown on June 4, 1994, in Gary. Mr. Ingram worked as a truck driver for Blanton Trucking in Mt. Enterprise until his retirement. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, his family, and his grandchildren. Mr. Ingram was a member of the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by four brothers, Dennis Earl, Clifton, Kevin, and Vernis "NeNe" Ingram.
Mr. Ingram is survived by his wife, Vickie of Carthage; two daughters, Tamera Sutton and husband Purvis of Denton and Brandi Ingram of Henderson; one son, Antwain Hall of Huntsville; three brothers, Charles Ingram and wife Brenda of Dallas, James Milton Ingram of Gary, and Rickey Ingram and wife Vera of Long Branch; four sisters, Hazel Ingram Pellum of Gary, Lisa Winfield and husband Anthony of Beckville, Patricia Johnson of San Antonio, and Farrell Daniels of Katy; and three grandchildren, Jalen, Zachary, and Brianna Sutton. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Robert Gray, Benjamin Anderson, Denton Fite, John McMillan, Gerry Ingram, and Keith Johnson.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Rickey Ingram, Milton Ingram, Charles Ingram, Anthony Winfield, Purvis Sutton, LaRyan Ingram, TraVarious Ingram, Jalen Sutton, and Zachary Sutton.
